Before You Go
One of the coolest things about wall shelves is the fact that they’re so fun and effortless, features which you can take advantage of when planning the layout, decor and ambiance of a room. For example, use shelves to fill an empty room corner and to create an unexpected point of interest. You can also use shelves to frame a fireplace or to fill the void between two windows. Another idea is to use open shelves to emphasize the verticality of a space or to create an asymmetrical installation.
Open shelving in a kitchen is an excellent solution to closed cabinetry for an open and airy feel. Use the same shelving material on all horizontal surfaces, including the countertops and shelf planes, for a uniform and parallel look. To prevent clutter and an overwhelming display, make sure to show off matching or complementary bowls, cups and accessories.
